Year 3

Welcome

Welcome to Year 3. Year 3 work incredibly hard throughout the school day so keep checking our twitter feed to get regular updates on what happens in school. Year 3 is an exciting time as our curriculum is full of exciting opportunities and an introduction to the fabulous Key Stage 2 curriculum. In Year 3, we continue to develop our knowledge, skills and understanding across the curriculum subjects. We are a team that like to support each other in everything we do and strive to ‘Shine in the Light of Christ’.

We will try to keep you updated with everything that goes on in our class and school but if there is ever anything you would like to know then feel free to either ask Miss Crich, Mrs Lukacs or Mrs Pritchett and we will happily help and provide in any way we can.

Reading

It is expected that your child reads 4 or more times a week. These reads need to be recorded in your child’s reading diary. Reads do not have to be from the reading books your child brings home, any opportunity your child has to read e.g. on a game, favourite magazine – this contribute to your child’s reads. Regular reading helps your child develop their vocabulary, understanding of grammar and love for books. Reading supports you for life! Your child’s reading books and reading diary are required in school every day as they have endless opportunities for independent reads. Your child’s books will be changed once a week, these books are independently picked by your child. The books will match the book band your child is reading at. At St Patrick’s we are very lucky to have an amazing library full of high quality books. Each Friday your child has the opportunity to pick a library book. Please ensure these library books are returned on a Friday.

Homework

Homework is handed out on Friday alongside spellings. Homework books are required in the following Wednesday. This allows for homework to be checked and time for new homework to be provided. Homework alternates between English and Maths. Some homework will be topic based.

PE

Please ensure your child has a full PE kit in school. Our PE sessions are on Fridays. Kit required in school is a white t-shirt, green shorts and black plimsolls/ suitable footwear for outdoors.
