Welcome to Class One’s class page.
In class one we encourage the children to be independent thinkers through the use of exploration and collaboration in the class room. Activities are designed to allow the children to explore a wide range of methods in their writing, maths, phonics and foundation subjects.
Our topics change every half term in order to excite the children with a different focus. In Autumn 1 our topic was ‘Toy Story’ and we looked at the history of toys. In Autumn 2 our topic was ‘Winter Wonderland’ and we began to identify different countries on a globe and in the atlases. In Spring 1 we looked at ‘Once Upon A Time’ and enjoyed learning about all the different Traditional Tales taught at this Key Stage. In Spring 2 we will be looking at the topic ‘Moon Zoom’. We will be learning how to write letters, how to create our own interactive space picture and many more exciting things!
We assign homework every Friday to be returned the following Wednesday. We link the homework to what is being taught that week. The homework varies between each subject depending on where the children need extra practise.
We also give out spellings every Wednesday to be tested the following Wednesday.
We require the children to read a minimum of 4 times per week and we ask that each read is recorded in their reading diary. Alongside this, our children spend some time each week in the library choosing a library book to borrow. Please ensure that the library book is returned in the same condition every Wednesday to be changed.
Class One is an enthusiatic and exciting place to be with a group of wonderful children who love to learn!
