ASSESSMENT
Within the enhanced provision, pupils who attend the Beehive are not assessed against National Curriculum expectations, as these are not always suitable for their individual needs. Instead, we use a range of assessment tools to help us understand each child’s development and monitor the progress they make across all areas of learning. The assessment methods we use are carefully chosen to match each child’s level of need. When pupils first join the provision, they are assessed using the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework and the Engagement Model, which help us to build a full picture of their strengths, interests and areas for development. As pupils grow in confidence and make progress in their learning and thinking skills, they may move on to assessments such as P Levels or PIVATS, alongside the AET Framework. These assessments help us to continue tracking progress and ensure that learning is planned to best support each child’s individual journey.
To support ongoing monitoring and assessment each pupil has a personal Beehive profile. Key areas of development are identified from ongoing assessments these are then used to tailor targeted provision within sessions.
Assessment data is shared with parents termly during SEND reviews.
