Geography Coverage Document

This document shows the Core Knowledge, Wider Knowledge and Skills each year group cover.

Core knowledge is the key knowledge that builds year upon year to build strong geographical development. The wider knowledge builds our children’s cultural capital and understanding of the world and the skills allow children to develop transferable skills to apply across different contexts alongside their newly acquired knowledge.

Geography Policy

Please read our geography policy for more information about what geography looks like at Saint Patrick’s.

Special Geographical Events in School

To show off all that we have learnt during our geography topics, we hold a “Around The World” afternoon for the whole school to participate in. All children and parents are issued with passports to get stamped as they fly around the world of Saint Patrick’s classrooms with geographical experts in each room talking everyone through the key learning about their countries. The passports contain questions about each classroom/location and prizes are awarded for the most correct answers.
